Producing new plastic from recycled material uses only two-thirds of the energy required to manufacture it from raw materials.
Plastics require 100 to 400 years to break down at the landfill.
Five 2-liter recycled PET bottles produce enough fiberfill to make a ski jacket.

City of Longwood Chambers

Meeting called to order by Chair, Judith Benson, at 6:04 PM
Conducted Pledge of Allegiance

Roll: Board attendees - Judith Benson, Scott Sturgill, Randy Garrett

         Absent - H. Alexander Duncan , Ariel Gaussart

Approval of Agenda: Sturgill motioned for approval,  Garrett 2nd the motion, all in favor.

Approval of March 2014 Meeting Minutes: Sturgill motioned, Garrett 2nd the motion, all in favor.

No  volunteers, guests or interns present.

David Millard was present and provided an update of his activity within Seminole's District, lessened due to temporary responsibilities within Tampa Field Office. David continued working towards holding a seminar for small farms and ranchers focusing on the business aspect of farming . He has spoken with Matt Lollar @ IFAS Extension - Seminole and asked for consideration of holding the event at their facilities on County Home Rd. in August or September 2014. A Saturday is suggested starting at 8:30-9 AM. David to continue working with Seminole's Extension Office for program assistance (Barbara Hughes, Gabriel Milch, Matt Lollar). Judith has  agricultural parcels from Property Appraiser, David will send out cover letter & bulletin pertinent to the event. Sponsors are needed for coffee and lunch - Sunniland, Ewing, other suppliers?

Treasurer's Report - Sturgill presented minimal account activity and current balances - SSWCD $412.94, Conserve All Ways - $259.07

No Secretary's  or Vice Chair Report

Chair Report - Benson: Update on Sean Law vs Longwood - limited activity due to no response from point of contact. Sturgill offered information of decision made by the City earlier in April (4/7). 

Stated the City Chamber is needed by the city in May,  Due to that, the meeting in May has been rescheduled to May 13th.  Benson retained the PO Box key from Garrett and will release to A. Gaussart in April as the new secretary.

Supervisor Reports/Comments:  No further discussion was held.

New Business: Post office box renewal - open discussion regarding changing locations between supervisors ends with a motion by Sturgill to leave PO box at the current location, 2nd by Garrett.

Old Business: No old business

Meeting adjourned at 6:34 PM.
