Aluminum can be recycled using less than 5 percent of the energy used to make the original product.
Recycling one aluminum beverage can saves enough energy to run a 100 watt bulb for 20 hours, a computer for 3 hours, or a TV for 2 hours.

Wednesday & Saturday = Odd numbered addresses.

Meeting Minutes for                                            October 2014




Meeting called to order by Chair Judith Benson at 6:10pm.

Pledge of allegiance

Roll Call:  Supervisors attendees:

Judith Benson; Ariel Gaussart; Scott Sturgill, H. Alexnader Duncan.

Absent: Randy Garrett

Quorum confirmed


·         Approval of the September minutes:  motion to approve by H. Alexander Duncan seconded by Ariel Gaussart

·         Introduction of the audience. Supervisor Gaussart introduced his son, Preston, from the audience.




·         Chair postponed Dan Mallard’s presentation since not yet present in the room.

·         Chair introduces Pat Southward of the League of Women Voters of Florida.

·         Mrs. Southward starts her Powerpoint presentation program.

·         Dave Millard of the NRCS starts his presentation and provided a corrected agreement for SSWCD to execute.

Vice-Chair’s Report

·         Discussion over the action the Board should take regarding the 2 remaining months of Supervisor Scott Sturgill and his legal obligation to step down due to his race for House Representative.  Discussion to appoint Scott Sturgill to fill in the remainder of the year.  Motion made by Supervisor Ariel Gaussart to appoint former Supervisor Scott Sturgill to his seat until the end of the 2014. Seconded by H. Alexander Duncan. Motion passes unanimously. Chairman will process the proper paperwork.

Treasurer’s Report

·         Opening balance: $338.94 / Closing balance: 259.07

Secretary’s Report


Chairman’s Report:

·         Discussion about finding a place to store the archives of the Soil & Water Board. The storage could be a private home or a business office.

·         Mention of the fact that there was an East Central Florida RC&D, a Tri-County organization set up a non-profit.

·         Chair informed of a Development Review Committee weekly meeting taking place at the Seminole County office building. It takes place each Wednesday morning at 8:30am.

Old Business:

·         Chili cook off cancelled

·         2015 Poster contest – fund raising


New Business:

·         Reinstate Scott Sturgill for remainder of term (through Jan. 6 2015)

·         2015 meeting dates

·         SSWCD files and storage must be relocated by Nov 30th
