Commuting

Each gallon of gas used by a car contributes almost 20 pounds of CO2 to the atmosphere.  A singel car driving 1000 miles a month adds up to 120 tons of Co2 annually.
If each commuter car carries one more passenger, an estimated 6,000,000 gallons of gasoline will be saved and 12 million pounds of CO2 will be kept out of the air.

·       Call to Order: 6:05 pm

·       Pledge of Allegiance

·       Roll Call – Present:  Kendrick, Young, Benson

·       Approval of SSWCD Minutes

·       Mr. Mahnken stated that the minutes for November and December were not yet complete

·       Guest Presentation:  Dr. Connie Lester, UCF RICHES Program

·       Supervisor Reports

Treasurers Report (Supervisor Young)

·       Supervisor Young reported a SSWCD balance of $151.39; Conserv Always Balance of $1048.80.

·       Supervisor Young mentioned the Board received a thank you from Rollins College for the “Eden to Sahara” book donation

·       Supervisor Young also discussed a receiving a request from Sam’s Club addressed to the Board in the name of Linda Jacobs to renew memberships for three cards; apparently this was a corporate membership.  In 1990 Linda Jacobs was elected to SSWCD Board; account was set up in 1992.  Supervisor Young deleted the account.  Apparently account was being kept current by a relative of Ms. Jacobs.

·       Supervisor Young stated he will be doing additional research into other accounts that may exist.

·       Supervisor Young mentioned that the Solar Amendment currently has 500k confirmed signatures

Vice Chair Report (Supervisor Kendrick)

·       Supervisor Kendrick stated he will commit to attend Seminole County Development Review Committee (DRC) meetings and provide a report back to Board.  The Board discussed that although the Vice Chair is in the real estate business, there shouldn’t be a conflict provided he is not a voting member of DRC.

Chair Report (Supervisor Benson)

·       Supervisor Benson informed the Board of the status of the 2016 Poster Contest.  Supervisor Benson will be reaching out to judges to establish dates for poster judging prior to the January meeting

·       Supervisor Benson noted that the logo file has been received and she will be ordering the appreciation plaque for the Longwood City Council
