Producing new plastic from recycled material uses only two-thirds of the energy required to manufacture it from raw materials.
Plastics require 100 to 400 years to break down at the landfill.
Five 2-liter recycled PET bottles produce enough fiberfill to make a ski jacket.

2016 was our 2nd contiguous year hosting the annual contest. We are pleased to announce over 75 entries were received  from students of both public and private schools within Seminole County.

Seminole Soil & Water Conservation District hosted the presentation of awards on February 9, 2016. The room was full of anticipation as contestants waited for their name to be called announcing their entry as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

The 1st place winner of each grade category will move forward to the Association of Florida Conservation Districts’ Area 3 contest (Spring 2016) and potentially continue to their state (Summer 2016) and national levels (Winter 2016).

We wish all the winners continued success in this process and we will advise the students of their progress in these contests.

A good time was had by all!

Special appreciation to our generous sponsors!
