Producing glass from virgin materials requires 30 percent more energy than producing it from crushed, used glass.
The energy saved from recycling one glass bottle will operate a 100-watt light bulb for four hours.
It takes approximately 1 million years for a glass bottle to break down at the landfill.

a.) Consideration of change of leadership per 2006 amendment to SSWCD by-laws

     c.)   Award certificate of appreciation recognizing the service of Robert King, longtime leader of Friends of Lake Jesup, who will be chairing his final meeting Thursday, August 21. Discuss whether certificate should be presented at SSWCD meeting or at Friends of Lake Jesup meeting.


     d.)    Propose that Chairperson attend Seminole BCC meeting to explain reasons for passage of resolution opposing river withdrawals and relaying our desire as a board to continue working cooperatively on the common goals of protecting our precious water resources


      e.)   Proposal to present Seminole County BCC/city governments with a model water conservation ordinance as expeditiously as possible. Ask members to draft ideas for creation of broad principles to discuss at next workshop.  Consider hosting public workshop that would include members of the scientific,

environmental and business communities as well as local elected officials prior to adoption of model ordinance.


      f.)   Propose partnering with Master Gardeners, the City of Sanford and the Friends of 18th Street Park to create a water-wise demonstration garden at the park. Designate liaison.


      g.)   Consider resolution opposing Niagara water bottling plant

      h.)   Carol Johnson will be attending our meeting from FDACS (Cost-share program in place for Lake Jesup Ag producers and the grant could be administered by your SWCD.)

      i.)   follow up on the strategic planning

      j.)   FL 2030 water conference in September (25-26 at Marriott World center in Orlando Next Meeting: Aug 19  5pm , Ag Center , 250 West County Home Road
