Producing new plastic from recycled material uses only two-thirds of the energy required to manufacture it from raw materials.
Plastics require 100 to 400 years to break down at the landfill.
Five 2-liter recycled PET bottles produce enough fiberfill to make a ski jacket.

SSWCD Board Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, October 11, 2016


Call to Order 6:02 pm


Roll Call - Supervisors Young, Menzel, York and Mahnken present.  Supervisor Benson absent.  Supervisor Menzel, led the meeting as Vice Chair.

Approval of Agenda - Supervisor Young moved to approve agenda, Seconded by Supervisor Mahnken.  All in favor.

Approval of September Minutes - Supervisor Mahnken report that the draft minutes from the September meeting would be available for approval at the November meeting.

David Millard NRCS Report - Mr. Millard not present.

Chairs Report - Chair absent

Vice Chair Report - Supervisor Menzel discuss status of the RICHES program and availability of office space

Treasurer Report - Reported account balances:  SSWCD - $42.80; Conserv All Ways, Inc.- $260.85

Secretary Report - Supervisor Mahnken discussed inspection conducted on Lake Gore in east Seminole County following a resident concern over low water levels.  Supervisor Mahnken also discussed a meeting held with Commissioner Dallari on October 4th regarding county wetland ordinance.

Public Relations Report - Supervisor York discussed involvement with arranging for Supervisors York and Mahnken to prepare presentations to be delivered at various schools science classrooms.

New Business - None heard
