Producing recycled paper requires about 60 percent of the energy used to make paper from virgin wood pulp.
Manufacturing one ton of office and computer paper with recycled paper stock can save between 3,000 and 4,000 kilowatt hours over the same ton of paper made with virgin wood products.

SSWCD Minutes for July 15, 2008

Tim Brodeur opened the meeting at 6:05

Supervisors Present: Tim Brodeur, Deborah Schafer, Alexandra Bunker, Steve Barnes, Jeff Bauer

Guests: Vicki DeSormier and Jeanale

Schafer moved to approve the Agenda
            Bunker Seconded
            Passed unanimously


Brodeur moved to approve Treasurer’s Report for April
            Schafer seconded 
            Passed unanimously

Bauer moved to approve Treasurer’s Report for May
            Bunker seconded 
            Passed unanimously


Brodeur moved to approve Treasurer’s Report for June
            Bauer seconded 
            Passed unanimously     

Treasurer’s report-

            The refund we received from the IRS may be a mistake; According to chief general the SSWCD is not in a state of Financial emergency; the outstanding Conserve Always was paid


Brodeur moved to transfer twenty five dollars from SSWCD account to the Conserve Always inc. account

            Passed Unanimously


Schafer moved to turn the phones off

Chairman’s Report-Area 4 supervisor meeting ordinance; AFCD meeting in June; Convening with utilities; update on irrigation training program;


Schafer moved to accept the resolution opposing Seminole County’s proposal to withdraw water from the St. Johns River; emphasizing water conservation measures as a more appropriate alternate source of water within the district.

            Barnes seconded


 Brodeur moved to table the resolution

            Bauer seconded

            Motion Failed


Bauer left meeting


Barnes moved to accept resolution with 2 amendments

            Schafer seconded

 Due to a conflict of work interest on the resolution Brodeur recused from the vote

             on resolution passed unanimously


Brodeur made an announcement of resignation from the SSWCD board district 3.
